Page 1 of 2 We all know people who have hidden talents. We look around and see them everywhere we go. There is so much talent in the world around us; the artists, the builders, the visionaries and general workers all burgeoning with untapped potential. We are often so amazed to discover in people we worked with, occasionally for years, amazing talents lying virtually untapped.
Why is it that so many gifted people never tap into their hidden talents? Why is it that so many of us continue to struggle to get by in life when we have so very much potential within our own talents to give and share? It has been said that every person has at least one million dollar idea. And for most it remains just that; an idea. The answer to that question is among the most simple yet still among the most elusive. Most of us do not believe in ourselves; not fully, not in the face of conflict and pressure. Successful people, across the board believe in themselves. They believe in their ability to rise above their obstacles, they believe in their right to recognition and they believe, absolutely and completely in the gift they are presenting to the world. Unsuccessful, unhappy and unhealthy people don’t believe. They doubt, they negate the evidence of good and deny opportunity, continually seeing it as too much of a risk. It is so very heart wrenching to see such glorious gifts being lost because of something so insubstantial as fear and doubt. All around me every day I see undeveloped potential, I see people struggling to survive while having within themselves talents that could set them free. Simultaneously every day I see average people, no more talented, no more intelligent, no more anything; except happy. The only difference is tapped potential. They have recognized within themselves something that ignites passion and they have given their lives to it. They have not looked back and they have become marvelously successful. They haven’t always attained boot loads of money, in fact many haven’t, yet they have all attained a measure of peace and happiness. They have discovered a world they would choose to live in and they discovered it because they believed in themselves. The greatest challenge I have been faced with is the challenge of changing my mind without having tangible evidence to support my change. The area this challenge consistently shows up is the area of my greatest passion (almost always the area of my greatest conflict). I may never have discovered these gifts and talents if not for the faith of people I believed in. In fact without those people I might never have taken the risk of exposing my ignorance, lack of skill and my desire to succeed in the pursuit of those hidden dreams.
