Win-win solutions must be found. And when those solutions are found we must celebrate, it is important to make our successes greater than our failures.  How rare is it for us to celebrate the little victories; the moment when someone gets off welfare, recovers from a serious disease or resolves a conflict in relationship?  Rarely does such a ‘mundane’ moment reach the news. Yet daily our regular news sources remind us about the failures, conflicts and losses.

Victories must be heralded, victories for peace must be elevated, and effective solution must be celebrated.  We appear to be a world addicted to disaster, the news sources are largely driven by our choices.  When we choose to support good news, the other news will be relegated to the back pages of our lives.

I believe it was John Lennon who once said, “Someday they will have a war and no one will show up.”  That ‘some day’ will only come when we make the choices to empower ourselves.

And when I see two hundred people of all ages and lifestyles showing up to learn how to find compassionate peaceful resolutions my faith is truly rekindled.

Today I choose to celebrate some good news; a wave of change swelling from the ground up.  I choose to celebrate a growing and unstoppable movement whose sole purpose is to ensure that the needs of all people are heard and honoured.
