This was the example of Gandhi and King.  Of course there were power seekers who they had to confront, of course there were risks they had to take, of course they were faced with doubts and fears.  But always those fears only made them stronger in their resolve.

These people used the principles of the great teacher Jesus and of every great spiritual leader. They did nothing more than remain firm in their resolve in the face of every obstacle.

For most of us the challenges will never be so daunting.  Most of us are not placed at the cross roads of history, in the currents of monumental change.  Most of us will never have to risk our very lives for our cause.  But the question still begs itself, if history place me in the centre of  global shift would I be willing to stand fixed in my conviction. 

Would I actually live my commitment to peace at the risk of my life and the lives of my loved ones?  Because, in truth, our lack of conviction will assuredly threaten the lives and well being of ourselves and our loved ones!
