Mid-week Inspiration,

The other evening I had a stiff reaction when a friend asked me my thoughts regarding the present murder trial embarked upon in the lower mainland.  With concerns that people will be constantly dragging up all the details of these dark activities I voiced an adamant NO.

I had two things come to mind.  First, this whole episode brought back to me memories of a trial that dragged out for what seemed to be forever in the American news.  And second it brought to mind our society’s general fixation on violent news and all the included dark details.  I do acknowledge that we need to be aware of events and acknowledge the course of justice and politics in our country.  Yet do we obsess?

What constantly comes to my attention when people bring these tragic world events to my attention is this: Thoughts are things!

Scientifically, many times over it has been demonstrated that thoughts have measurable physical implications.  Like all substances and energy their effects can be measured; they have a physical impact upon us and our environment.  So this implies that we should consciously choose what we think about.

There are two things that come forward when I consider the implications of thoughts being things.  Firstly, I recognize that the kinds of thoughts we have will produce experiences in their nature.

This seems to me to be an obvious conclusion.  In nature all things reproduces according to their kind.  The seeds of every creature produce true to the genetic information of the seed.  A carrot seed will never give you anything except a carrot, a frogs egg will bring forth a tadpole and then a frog.  I will never get a tadpole from a carrot.

This is a universal law; all things produce according to their kind.  So if thoughts are things, and for anyone willing to do the research they will find ample scientific documentation, then it only follows that somehow the thoughts we think will create more of their nature.  If this didn’t happen consistently with thoughts and all other things there would be no predictability, no possibility of invention, recreation, creation or evolution.

he universe would be chaotic; at the foundation of energy there would be no cohesion to form. Life as we know it would not exist.

There is another thing I recognize about thoughts and this again follows from the simple fact that thoughts are things.  This is drawn from another foundational law; it states basically that like attracts like.  Simply and scientifically stated any substance will tend to its own kind.  A simple example would be water collecting into pools and streams, further, the existence of mineral deposits, and even the affinity of species.  All atomic and molecular bonds form attractive structures; even the make-up of our bodies demonstrate such affinities.  There is no place we can look without seeing many examples of this natural attraction of like unto like.
