Page 1 of 2 Mid-week Inspiration, Isn’t it amazing how a problem can seem to snowball out of all context and proportion from its original ‘inception’? Yet really this is a natural phenomenon. Every mathematician is quite familiar with this effect; very simply when one builds upon an error the effects compound and skew the results exponentially. Every builder recognizes this and the desire for a worthy outcome is why so much time and measure is put into the accuracy of those foundation measurements.
This principle is so fundamental to all areas of life it was repeatedly included in the bibles of the world. In the King James Version, the Holy Bible, there are over thirty references made to the importance of our foundation. The master teacher continually emphasized the importance of a solid foundation. You see, the same rules that apply to quality construction apply to a ‘good’ life. Jesus was also clear about another very important principle; if you want to understand the laws do not go to the ‘Scribes and Pharisees’, they have a vested interest in their interpretation of the facts. Rather look within your own heart to find the answers. The ‘Scribes and Pharisees’ were the keepers and recorders of the history of the Jews, it was their duty to maintain the purity of the scriptures ‘according to their understanding’ even if that meant putting heretics to death. In the middle ages the ‘Scribes and Pharisees’ of the Catholic Church put millions of people to death through the inquisition, the Crusades and the eradication of the Cathars (a very large and popular sect of Christianity that practiced a philosophy of peace, love and the celebration of life). They also eliminated many other smaller religious groups to maintain the ‘purity’ of their records and their religion. With such a cruel foundation it is no wonder so many view with reserve our Christian philosophy. There is much questioning of the intention behind this message of love and forgiveness. The language we daily use is steeped in violence. Our style of communication is based upon coercion, deception and manipulation. Our legal system is beyond the reach of much of our population. We have books full of laws and rules because so many consciously or unconsciously risk the well being of others for their personal gains. All of these aberrations spring from a narrow application of a philosophy of love your neighbour embraced by the western nations. Somewhere at the foundation there must be a justification of violence within the structure, which is not contained within the philosophy of the master teacher and it is up to each of us to find and eliminate that discrepancy from our hearts and lives. National history books are well documented as being written according to the whims of the powerful. If a person actually wants the real facts about virtually any historical situation, generally the last place to go is to those who benefit the most by the story as it is. This is true with politics, with economy and with religion. One must turn to those who have nothing to gain; one must turn within to that inner voice which urges us each to move toward a greater good by means of the greater good of all people.
