Mid-week Inspiration, Today in British Columbia we have a renewed government. Yesterday people went out and voted in possibly record numbers. I am left wondering how many voters will consider yesterdays vote their last political act, until four years down the road, we have another election. Except possibly to bemoan the failings of this government to solve our problems and make our lives better.
What is it in people that allows them to think that five minutes of checking a ballot will somehow ensure them the freedom, prosperity and social standards they have become accustomed to. Not only is this kind of thinking absurd on a simply intellectual level. It is also completely out of alignment with the spiritual laws that the great teacher Jesus expounded upon. He often spoke these ideas of personal involvement with our lives, affairs and wealth through parables. The stories of the prodigal son, the ten talents, the stewardship of the landlords lands and many others all spoke of personal responsibility in our lives through active participation. It is little wonder that our world should appear on the brink of destruction when it is populated by people solely intent upon getting all they can get with very little thought of giving. This kind of thinking creates personal and, on a race level, global bankruptcy. The answer is not for everyone to become a political activist, more of them are not likely to solve any problems. The answer to all of our collective problems is far simpler and yet more difficult to do. The answer is to do all that we do with an attitude of giving rather than getting. With an attitude of giving we infuse our normal routine activities with passion, we put life into what we are doing and we discover a zest for life that transcends any amount of monetary wealth. We inspire our neighbours and enrich our world politic. And we do it without adding to this rampant disease called greed. Yet at the same time our activity invokes a spiritual law of attraction, that returns to us prosperity beyond our present awareness. Such a simple recipe is guaranteed to enrich our lives, our families and our communities. A proven recipe whose results are visible through the records of every age of growth in history. Today in our simplest acts we can be politically supportive, we can build a strong tomorrow and make our lives a joy. All that is necessary is enthusiasm; just a little zest. May this week for you be blessed with zest. In Love and Light, |
