Mid-week Inspiration, A minister was opening his mail one morning. Drawing a single sheet of paper from an envelope he found written on it only one word: "FOOL". The next Sunday he announced, "I have known many people who have written letters and forgot to sign their name. But this week I received a letter from someone who signed his name and had forgotten to write a letter." Often in my Sunday talks I will use humour such as the above joke.
I have been told by many great speakers, it is a very dangerous thing to do. I agree! The danger exists any time we speak with no definite purpose. The danger is twofold; first we might offend someone because our humour is putting down one group or another and secondly because even when we are not “thinking” our thought is producing our experience. “What we think about comes about”: with almost monotonous regularity when we act or speak unconsciously. Most humour is a form of gossip and like gossip is based on judgment. All judgment comes from focusing on a world of imperfection. Yet in truth there is no imperfection. The experience of imperfection is only the perfect reflection of race thinking and the perfect result of an ignorant acceptance of race thinking. Our lives are and will continue to be a reflection of our level of consciousness. Many people would consider this statement to be arrogant and would challenge me to prove it. I have proven it! And I continue to prove it to myself every day by consciously regarding my thoughts and words and witnessing their correlation to my experiences. It is not something I can prove in another person’s life any more than I can prove the existence of electricity. Only in your experience can you prove the power of your thoughts, and only to the degree that you are conscious of your every thought. I can assure you with absolute faith that as you do you will discover the symphonic perfection of this Universe we share. Your life will begin to unfold more harmoniously, and the seeming chaotic circumstances of your daily experiences will fade into the past. One of the greatest statements of the American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson was “who you are speaks so loudly I can’t hear a word you are saying”. Pay attention to who you are, pay attention to your thoughts and your words will naturally be richer. May you experience the richness of return from joy filled words. In Love and Light, |
