Mid-week Inspiration, I have had old patterns brought into my awareness this week. And once again I have realized just how deeply they run. I relate to you a story from when I was twenty-two years old . I was taking an intensive workshop on working with the disabled (mentally and physically). About the fourth week into this program we were exploring modes of movement, doing an exercise just walking around the room.
My instructor, observing me, asked if my father was a rancher. My father was a teacher, he hadn't been a rancher in almost twenty years. He had completely left it behind and distanced himself from anything relating to ranching. Yet in those three years of my life the bearing and mannerisms of a rancher had been imprinted upon me and twenty years later it showed. Since then I have found in myself many other patterns that were subconsciously imprinted. Patterns of spiritual beliefs and patterns of communication, patterns of association and self worth. Why is this important? Because, simply, without recognition and ownership I cannot change. What I can't change I am bound to. My physical bearing will not likely cause much limitation of opportunity in my life. However my patterns of communication can and do have an enormous impact on my life and opportunities. Our sense of self worth could be our greatest yoke. Our faith in ourselves and in this wonderful world we live in will definitely impact us. All of these core patterns are formed before we are five years old. Yet they only bind us to them by our unconscious acceptance of them. A conscious awareness and a willingness to release or, in religious terminology, forgive is all we need to do to move into a greater experience. I recognize how almost simplistic this seems. It is simple yet it is far from easy. We each have come to identify very deeply with who we think we are. And who we think we are always in our human experience defines and is defined by our limitations; our greatness literally scares us 'to death'. To realize our greatness is to set ourselves free."Come to the edge, he said. They said: We are afraid.Come to the edge, he said. They came.He pushed. They flew." Guillaume ApollinaireYou are more than your past because your past is gone and you are here. You are more than your future because your future will never be greater than you have made it today. You are more than your problems because you are the author of your problems and you will move beyond them. You are a magnificent creator of this moment that you stand in with all its opportunities and challenges. You are a blessing. In Love and Light, |
