We live in a rapidly changing world. Today as I was returning from a meeting I heard announced on the radio that a thousand people were being laid off in the Canadian auto manufacturing sector. Simultaneously I heard of plans to construct two nuclear reactors in Alberta. Every day there are breakthroughs in the computer sector; events around the world are impacting our awareness even in their unfolding. This truly is an adventure reminiscent of the Chinese blessing and curse, “May you live in times of change.” |

Shut out, shut up and shut down. What will we do to achieve a few minutes of silence? I suppose the real question is; ‘what will most of us do to avoid a few minutes of silence?’ We have all heard the litany of cell phones, radios, ipods, TVs … the list is long and most of us are searching yet for other ways to infiltrate the hinterlands of silence that haunt our periphery. |

What will it take for us to choose a world of peace, health and harmony? To what lengths must we allow people to go before we reach out with sane hands to restore balance and accord? Are there even enough people who care about issues globally and locally? Or is this world truly driven by a need to get more; more than any human being can possibly need? |
